Video mapping on LED display
Regular at Proxic, Inceptionz, and Retro Nation, mainstage at Invaderz and M&T XL, appearances at Bad Habitz, Legendary 90s, and Tabulat, support at Pukkelpop Boiler stage and Les Ardentes Big Eye... You could say TROWFLOX is no stranger to the Belgian rave scene when it comes to live visuals!
FROM SLAVES TO RAVES
From Slaves - Projecting their freedom upon future generations through movement and sound. Letting go of their individuality in order to connect with the larger group, that in its turn connects towards a higher plane.
To Raves - Where often we get lost in a state that can only be attained by being together and alone at the same time. Dancing our bodies away through the night, that's where the mind gets transported to another dimension, just for a moment.
GENERATIVE ALBUM COVERS
THE DIGITAL NEEDS THE PHYSICAL TO EXIST, AND THE OTHER WAY AROUND
Using video projection, the images are projected upon several blank record sleeves on a physical shelf, as if they were ever-changing cover art designs for real LPs. These randomly generated artworks only truly make sense in a physical context of tactile record sleeves. However, the final artwork outputs can only be produced by the computer operations.
A total of 170 uniquely generated iterations were published as NFTs on fx(hash). This number is a reference to the common BPM that comes with modern Drum & Bass music, a musical genre TROWFLOX happens to like a lot.
INSPIRING THE CRAFT
TEACHING INTERACTIVE MOTION
Employed at the Erasmus University College Brussels between 2018-2020, TROWFLOX lectured the Motion Graphics, Live Visuals & Motion Capture, and Generative Motion courses. Here are the results produced last minute by some of the 2nd bachelor students, during an intense 1½ week period, just before covid-19 lockdown.
A HIGH LEAPING DEVICE
ALTO - THE ELECTRONIC MUSIC DEVICE USING LEAP MOTION TO TRACK HAND GESTURES, THAT ARE THEN TRANSLATED INTO AN AUDIOVISUAL OUTPUT
The final work to TROWFLOX's Art & Technology studies resulted in a piece of hardware he could see himself using in a live setting, on stage, performing both music and visuals. Use the button below to follow his process from concept to completion.
